A Dark Star Falls — Twin Tribes Debut Video for “Monolith” — Plus Announce New Album “Pendulum”

Following the rich umbra cast by their debut album, Shadows, and the ritualistic celebrations evoked by their sophomore release, Ceremony, Twin Tribes return with their latest offering, Pendulum. The duo, after a four-year interval from original releases and a continuous US live circuit tour, retreated to the studio in the scorching summer of 2023 to craft this third auditory journey. Pendulum swings Twin Tribes through cosmic contemplation, the exaltation of love, the abyss of blind adoration, and the undying fascination with the inevitable – death.

Pendulum is not just a new album; it’s the more profound evolution of Twin Tribes’ artistry. It flirts with a rougher edge while diving into a blend of unexplored analog and digital realms. The spine of the album is built on pulsing bass synths and rhythmic drum machines, while its soul retains the bright guitars, nostalgic 80s synths, somber lyrics, and haunting vocals that have become synonymous with Twin Tribes. The album seamlessly marries the Gothic with the romantic, dancing gracefully on the line dividing light from dark.

Twin Tribes also spices up the sonic narrative with a dash of Rock en Español, notably in their first ever Spanish track, Sangre de Oro. “There are many influences that can be heard throughout the ten tracks. Our love for Rock en Español, for example, can be heard on the first track we penned completely in Spanish, Sangre de Oro. It’s inspired by the great Latin American bands of the 80’s.”

The first single, Monolith, released alongside a visually striking music video by Kinowave, delves into the paranormal, tracing the tragic timeline of an innocent being. The music is a haunting blend of ominous yet dancey synths and Twin Tribes’ trademark guitar shivers, all under the shadow of Louis Navarro’s menacing vocals. Directed by Sultan Mars and featuring Gale Yavorski alongside the band, the music video is a cosmic horror tale that could rival the most chilling episodes of X-Files. It presents a stark vision of stars and cosmic dust interrupted by a meteor crash. The song’s titular monolith, evoking Arthur C. Clarke’s imagery but with a sinister twist, marks the start of a dark metamorphosis for the heroine in the narrative.

Watch the video for “Monolith” below:

Pendulum is described as an exploration of duality, correspondence, and polarity, akin to the rhythmic sway of tides. “Just like tides all things rise and fall, the pendulum swings equally from right to left, and there is no light without dark.” It will sweep across the globe beginning on January 26, 2024, under the banners of Beso De Muerte Records in North America and Young & Cold Records elsewhere.
